Week Countdown to Book Club (June 2019, Augustine’s Confessions, Kreeft)

Hello Readers and Happy Last Stretch of Easter and Almost Summer!

First off, thank you for all who contributed mightily to the recent Ministry Fair! Much appreciated and it was a lot of fun. Thanks again.

Meeting next week, Monday June 10th, 7:00 pm in the one storey conference center off the lower parking lot in whatever room’s free. Doors may not open until very close to 7:00.

Discussing I Burned for Your Peace: Augustine’s Confessions Unpacked by Peter Kreeft. Have a look and see some of the famous Augustine quotes in context; figuring that we’ll all be ahead dipping our toes in the waters of his writing and thinking, even if it’s a quick, introductory dip.

We’ll also line up books for fall at this meeting. Short list includes The Prodigal You Love: Inviting Loved Ones Back to the Church; Prayer Everywhere: The Spiritual Life Made Simple; Overcoming Sinful Anger; In the School of the Holy Spirit; From Fire by Water; He Leadeth Me: An Extraordinary Testament of Faith; What’s a Person To Do? Everyday Decisions That Matter. Please add your suggestions!

July is The Power and the Glory. No meeting in August.

There is a beautiful activity happening the day beforehand, Sunday June 10th, in the ground floor of the newer Parish Center at 9:15 am: an hour plus special session on transforming regret, hurt, and disappointment through contemplating the Gospel.

Happy Reading, Karla

Ministry Fair this Wknd — Can You Help?

Hello, I forgot to mention at this past weekend that this weekend, May 18th after 5:00 Mass and after all Sunday Masses, the Ministry Fair will have a Book Club table among the other tables in the Parish Center.

Manning the table means encouraging people to try the meetings out, to sign up for email updates, and to hand out the book list (provided I get around to printing it off). Can you take one post-Mass time? Especially on Saturday????? Thank you for your consideration.

There will be refreshments!

Forgot to mention as well during our Marian book discussion on Monday that it was the day for Our Lady of Fatima. Oh well.

Next meeting June(!) 10th I Burned for Your Peace: Augustine’s Confessions Unpacked by Peter Kreeft

Happy Reading, Karla
