See you Saturday at 11:00 in the one story Conference Center to discuss The Way of Serenity: Finding Peace and Happiness in the Serenity Prayer by Fr. Jonathan Morris.
In August, we will meet a week later, August 15th, and our book will be somewhat lighter summer reading: Something Other Than God: How I Passionately Sought Happiness and Accidentally Found It by Jennifer Fulweiler.
Respectfully asking for someone to guest host our September meeting. That would mean bringing in a few questions to lead the discussion.
Saturday we’ll come up with the next few months’ books. I have my eye on a spiritual direction book by a Jesuit. I’ve come across interesting books on how to think about Marian apparitions and private revelation, a biblical exegesis of Purgatory, more apologetics, and a self-help Sister. And I feel we could always spend more time learning about the saints.
Thanks and Happy Reading! Here is the complete text of the Serenity Prayer:
GOD, grant me the serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change,
Courage to change the
things I can, and the
wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the
pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this
sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make
all things right if I
surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy
in this life, and supremely
happy with Him forever in
the next.
Amen
