Ignatian San Diego

Here it is time for the next meeting and still following up on the last book! Good thing we have long nights with the time change to finish reading The Lamb’s Supper.

Book club is Saturday (this Saturday, the 9th) at 10:30 am. There is some confusion (on my part) where the meeting will be held. We may wind up in the usual place after all. Then we’ll be in the one-story Conference Center as usual Tuesday night (the 12th) at 7:00 pm. Please come to either meeting that suits. Saturday is endangered if turnout remains low.

Here are the follow-ups on all things Jesuit:

Ignatian Prayer Retreat, this Friday night and Saturday at Church of the Resurrection in Escondido. Details at end of e-mail.

Silent Ignatian Prayer Weekend Retreats offered by Miles Christi priests: http://www.mileschristi.org/en/activities/area.php?id=3&location=89. Their Evenings of Recollection are very nice too.

Ignatian prayers: I think it’s pronounced SUE-she-pay http://www.loyolapress.com/suscipe-prayer-saint-ignatius-of-loyola.htmhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suscipe#In_Latin. For generosity: http://www.loyolapress.com/prayer-for-generosity-saint-ignatius-of-loyola.htm

Happy Reading Ignatian Nation! -Karla

November’s Blockbuster Book: The Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn!

ImageThank you to all who got us off to a great start in October, and looking forward to meeting new members soon!

The Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn is must-reading; for the poorly catechized (eg, a broad swath of my generation) and for the rest of you … the awesome reality of Mass will hit you.

This is a quick update. To facilitate book ordering, here are some more titles: December — Choosing Joy by Dan Lord. Short list for the new year is The Holy Longing by Ronald Rolheiser and Surrender by Larry Richards.

November dates are Saturday Nov 9th at 10:30 probably in the new center given that the excellent Craft Fair is happening. If you think you’re going on that Saturday it would be helpful if you could let me know. Tuesday night November 12th at 7:00 we will be where we were before, in the back of the one-story conference center.

Happy Reading, Karla
